Generation of Undeliverable Email Messages

Within CRM, an outbound email is sent, we then receive back an Undeliverable message which is generated under the System account.

Hence people with a lower security level cannot even see that this message has failed to be sent.

I wish to understand the process behind this Undeliverable message to see where potentially the owner of the process can be changed.
