Financial Dimension based on the Legal Entity

(0) ShareShare

Hi All

I have 5 Legal entities in my database, using the shared chart of account and account structure. I am using the  site , cost center and worker as financial dimension.

Now whenever user is passing the GL entry, user can see the cost center of all the 5 legal entities. Is there any way i can restrict the cost center company specific and the user can see the financial dimensions of  its own legal entity. I am Using AX 2012 R2 CU7

Please suggest and it will be better if can get some link or the document.

    Hello Imran,

Is your site specific to a legal entity e.g. site 1 belongs to legal entity 1, site 2 belongs to legal entity 2, etc.?

If you you can specify your account structure in a way that each legal entity can only see their sites, cost Centers and other financial dimensions you use.

This should work in the following way in your account structure

    site1-cost Center 1a-1z-worker1a-1z

    site2-cost Center 2a-2z-worker2a-2z

Is this setup clear to you?

Does it make sense in your case?

    Hi Ludwig,

My site is Legal entity specific, you had taken the correct example.

What i am looking for is, when i am in Legal Entity 1, i want to see the site 1 only currently i can see all 1 to 5. And it is the same for the other financial dimension.

And the setup you are telling, i want the same how i can achieve this. I think this can achieve from the Organization Hierarchy but i didn't get any detailed document/link that i can read and implement the same.

    Hi Imran,

If you include your legal entity in your account structure, activate the dimension link in inventory and link each site to the legal entity financial dimension you should be able to achieve what you need. Please have a look at the following screenprints.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

    Thanks for your reply.

I have already activated the Site link dimension and in the financial dimensions of the sites legal entity is attached.

The option what you told me is working fine with the nodes after the site for example: i define the following structure

    CC.jpg

And now when i am creating the journal in the lines i am getting all sites instead of the site of the legal entity in which you are passing the entry and cost center is working fine.

How can i restrict the site also.

    Hi Imran,

Can you test on one of your accounts shown in the screenshot above what happens if you setup the financial dimension "site" in the Chart of Accounts at the legal entity level as the default or fixed financial dimension value.

    Hi Ludwig

    Thanks for your reply.

I am using shared chart of account, so i believe i can not make the site dimension as default.

    Hi Imran,

You should be able to setup site-specific default financial dimension values by flipping the respective company even if you use a shared COA. Example:

Can you check whether such a company-specific setup works for you?

    Hi Ludwig

I checked the scenario you told me and it is working fine, as i am using the shared chart of account so i have to go to each legal entity and from the main accounts form i will have to choose the ledger account one by one and make the ledger account company specific and default the site under financial dimension tab.

I have one doubt here, as previously i was using the shared chart of account and now i am making it company specific, will it make any changes in the accounts or what will be the impact.

    Hello Imran,

well, another possible setup that I could imagine would be that you setup and use an additional financial dimension "company". This financial dimension needs to be included in your account structure and allows you specifying which sites are allowed to be posted with the different companies that you have. The main question is then where do you setup the additional financial dimension "Company" that it automatically defaults and that users do not have to select it manually (customer/vendor/item/... Level).

Does this make sense to you?

    Ludwig
