Dynamics NAV2017 - Permission master database MS SQL Server

Hello,
I need more information about the permissions to set on SQL server master database.

When I run Navision 2017, there is an error regarding the impossibility of creating a table on the master database, namely the license table "dbo.$ndo$srvproperty".

Considering that the customer cannot give me the sa access, in order to change the .flf license with "Development Environment", do I need an account that is dbowner of the master database or there are some "reduced" permission I can assign to this account?

Once the srvproperty table has been created and populated, can I remove these permissions to the account used in the previous step?

Regards,

Raoul

check the sql rights of the nav service account in the sql database. it should have the role db_owner.

Hi Jonathan, thank you but does the Nav service account need the db_owner permission also for the master database? I don't think this should be a feasible solution for us.

    Thank you

    Hello.

You should be able to create the table, and grant your user access with this.

Ofcourse the NAV service account will also need SELECT on that table.

    use [master]
    GO

    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[$ndo$srvproperty](
    [license] [image] NULL
    ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]

GRANT INSERT ON [dbo].[$ndo$srvproperty] TO [CRONUS\navadmin]
GRANT SELECT ON [dbo].[$ndo$srvproperty] TO [CRONUS\navadmin]
GRANT UPDATE ON [dbo].[$ndo$srvproperty] TO [CRONUS\navadmin]
    GO

Hello Bjørn, thanks for you suggestion, i have followed your procedure and now Navision start successufully, but when i'm trying to start Development Environment, i receive this error

    2148.Untitled.png

It seems that the Development tool isn't able to insert the license in the table, but connecting with sql studio using the navision account, I'm able to do an insert with the license key.

    Any ideas?
