Hello,
SQL Server Express 2012 x64 is a requirement for the installation of the Zetadocs Archive Service. Is there a way to let the Archive Service work with an existing SQL Server installation?

We have the same Problem SQL 2012 installed,.
Setup always shows... Pending Installation SQL server
Hello David,
in our environment we have this SQL Server Software already up and running:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows NT 6.2 (9200)
NT x64
11.0.3128.0
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL
Latin1_General_CI_AS
When starting the Zetadocs Archive Service Setup it says:
"Zetadocs Archive Service requieres the following items to be installed on your computer. Click install to begin installing these requirements."
Status: Pending,
Requirement: SQL Server 2012 x64
If we then cancel this step, the setup finishes without creating an instance.
Is there a way to change the install script not to run this requirement check?
Thank you and best regards
Andrew
Hello Andrew,
You do not need to install SQL 2012 Express if you already have a full version of SQL 2012 installed. The Zetadocs Archive installer will create a new 'Zetadocs' instance in your existing SQL 2012 installation.
Kind regards,
Hello David,
should it be possible to install Zetadocs Express into an existing German installation of Microsoft SQL Server Standard (64-bit - Version 11.0.3000) without the need of installing the express edition?
Thank you and best regards
Andrew
Thank you David for your fast answer.
You are right regarding a SQL Server Instance, but after analyzing the situation the mistake was the installation program message, related to the Express versión.
It will help for future versions.
Hi Luis,
It is expected that the Zetadocs Archive Service installer creates a new db instance called 'Zetadocs' within your existing SQL 2012 installation, it is not possible to change this.
We believe there are advantages in having a separate db instance:
Kind regards,
Hello David,
I don't know if you have already detected the error but I have had the same issue when installing in my laptop. I am waiting for any news before install in a new NAV customer, so any feedback will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hello Seb,
I was in the same situtation as you, having an existing SQL Server 2012 (not Express) installation. The Archiving Setup creates a new instance ZETADOCS on the existing SQL installation. I didn't find any option to avoid this.

Hi David.
Is the requirement for the Zetadocs Archive service to have SQL 2012, or to have a SQL Server instance named "Zetadocs"? Or both, ie a SQL 2012 instance named Zetadocs?
I would like to know if it's possible to just install/link the Archive service to an existing SQL 2012, avoiding the install of a new SQL Server instance?
Thanks.
-Seb
Hello David,
The setup indeed added a new instance to the existing SQL Server. After this I had to rerun the setup to have the Zetatdocs Archive service installed. Works fine now.
Many thanks.
