Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities will use the same 'sa' password as SQL Server. There is no other 'sa' - it's just the one. If it's not working, it could be the ODBC is not set up properly. If you can post the entire error message you're getting, that may help.

The DYNAMICS database will not get created until you've logged into Utilities. If you're not able to log in there, as I am gathering from the issue with the password, then you cannot create the DYNAMICS database.

If you are entering the correct sa password for your SQL server and it's not working then there must be a problem with the connection to the database.

First, verify that you are able to login to SQL Server with the sa account directly on the SQL Server itself, by going into SQL Management Studio and logging in.

Once you have verified you are able to login to SQL and have the correct sa password, go back to the workstation where you have installed GP and verify that your DSN is correct.  You can enter in the sa user name and password in the DSN and click on test to verify connectivity.

Remember, GP installs a DSN under the 32 bit ODBC drivers, so if you created a DSN in the ODBC Data Sources in control panel - administrative tools on a 64 bit machine, it will not  show the GP DSN, so you need to go to c:\windows\syswow64 and run the odbcad32.exe file to see the GP DSN.  When in the DSN admin, click on the system tab and verify you have a Dynamics GP DSN.

Open up the Dynamics GP DSN and make sure all the ANSI options are unselected on the first screen, and on the second screen make sure perform translation for character data is unchecked.

Once you have verified your DSN to be working, try to run GP Utilities again and login as sa.
