About Team members License

Posted on by 416

Hi all:

I checked my D365 permissions of some roles, and found out that licenses of some roles are Team Members. For instance, Purchasing agent is just so. But I do not understand the meaning of the table list as below.

Does it mean that if I have an additional Team Members license of D365 Finance and a user is set up the Purchasing agent role, the related functionality with the role will be effective? Otherwise, these related functionality with the role will never work.

(I have been having license of D365 Finance.)

    RE: About Team members License

    Hi Jacky,

It's not only about "Purchasing Agent" role but complete supply chain management app.  Let's say you have 03 supply chain user so you can discuss with your MS representative if you can get 03 "Multi-app" user license that is called "Attach" packaging model that will basically cost you 30 $.  Because Supply chain management base (Full users) license is 180 $ (min 20 seats) which is quite high and you dont need 20 users.

    OR

You can do mix and match Between 02 apps (Finace and Supply chain) . Do discuss that option as well.

    Hi Junaid Idrees:

    Thank for your reply.

You made me realize that I should buy seperate D365 SCM license, then D365 will allow me to use 'Purcharsing agent' and so on. Based on these, I can also buy additional Team members license of D365 SCM as well for our access limited user.

    Best Regards

    RE: About Team members License

    Hi Jacky,

    Thanks for your clarification.

D365 Finance & Operations is actually separated into 2 different applications:

    1. Finance

    2. Supply Chain Management

So if you have bought only D365 finance license (20 users minimum) and you want to use supply chain management as well so Yes you have to buy D365 supply chain management license as well but you will get heavily discounted price. Actually now D365 application definition is based on security role categories and since Procurement/Sales/Manufacturing/Cost accounting/Quality control are coming under SCM bucket so you have to buy seperate D365 supply chain management license.

D365 Unified operation license is bit complex so i will suggest you to contact your MS account manager to get you the best pricing in order to use supply chain management license.

    Hi Junaid Idrees:

    Thanks for your detailed information.

    You said :

    >>> Not necessary that in order to assign purchasing agent role you need specifically team member license.

Do you mean when I have had D365 Finance license and D365 SCM license, it will be not neccssary?

So far I just only bought D365 Finance license, therefore it is supposed to buy  D365 SCM license, if I want to use 'Purcharing Agent' ?

Secondly, you also suggested me assign this role 'Purchasing agent' to any other normal user as well, althought I only have D365 Finance License?

All right, I will try to assign this type of user and access system.

    Thank you

    Best Regards

    RE: About Team members License

    Hi Jacky Qian,

In the Unified Operations Plan (Finance and Operations) user access is managed by security roles. There are some security roles in D365 that you need the “Full User” for. If your employee/user fits any of the below Role/descriptions then you probably need a full license.

    For example:

    • HR Manaer
    • HR Assistant
    • Payroll Manager
    • Payroll Administrator
    • Accounting manager
    • Accounts payable manager
    • Accounts Receivable manager

Not necessary that in order to assign purchasing agent role you need specifically team member license. You can assign this role to any other normal user as well if you want to assign/keep limited access. But a good practice is When you purchase a team member license in Dynamics 365 then assign such roles (Purchase Agent) to that user to keep the limited accces because team member licensed users can “read” data from all of the Dynamics 365 app that you have so basically you can look at the record but cannot edit it.

In Addition to that, Team Member Licences allow light access to all the Dynamics 365 apps. This keep the user connected and allows them to read data and perform light tasks and activities in the company.

    For Example:

    • Record any type of time
    • Record any type of expenses
    • Manage personal information
    • Create requisitions
    • Create or edit the items related to the following capabilities: quality control, service orders
    • Approve time, expenses, and invoices
