ClickOnce error on processorArchitecture 'The value 'X86' is invalid according to its datatype'

Hi,

I have configured everything for a Clickonce deployment of NAV2013R2.

When I try to execute the deployment, it fails. In the log file, i can see :

Exception reading manifest from file://hit-test-001/clickonce/deployment/applicationfiles/Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe.manifest: the manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened.
+ The 'processorArchitecture' attribute is invalid - The value 'X86' is invalid according to its datatype 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1:processorArchitectureType' - The Enumeration constraint failed.
  + The Enumeration constraint failed.

I can't figure out what is wrong here. Maybe somebody experienced the same problem ?

Kind regards,

Francis

    hi Jonathan,

I followed the instructions as mentioned on Gunnar's blog. in one of his other articles, sombody replied he had the same problem, but I think they solved it via a private message.

I prepared everything on a remote desktop of a Windows 2012 server, 64bit. I tried deployment both on the server and on a Windows 7 64 bit PC.

I installed the sdk as required, and on the W7 machine, i have already Nav2013R2 running so i am sure all prerequisites are met.

    Hi Francis,

Select x86 processor architecture for both .manifest and .application files.

    Hi,

I restarted the whole procedure, starting from a client installation without the development environment installed. So i only installed Client and Clickonce.

    Now it works.

I probably messed up the manifest file, so I am not sure if installing without the development environment was the solution.

Install the client only is correct. It takes around 25mb and download time is faster. In addition, end users don't need development environment.

Are you try to start installation on the same computer where is ClickOnce deployment?

    Hi Francis,

You can refer to my post on ClickOnce:

    Hi,

as I described in one of my earlier replies, I did solve my problem by reinstalling the NAV Client that a used as the base for Clickonce. The second time I only installed the client, while in the first setup, I also added the development environment.

So I am not sure if my problem was caused by me doing something wrong the first time, or because I tried to install the development environment too.

Anyway, I liked reading your article because it gives a good overview of the setup.

one conclusion I also made is that you should start with it from the beginning. If you want to implement it with an existing customer, you will have to remove old installations on all claient PC's.

    kr,

    Francis

    Thanks Francis!

I think for end users, we don't need to install development environment. Your second setup is fine, of course you have to uninstall first setup when you want to use the same installation name.

About removing old installation for new one, it is good that end users have one installation for each service instance, and not make them confused. But you can keep them all because ClickOnce is Side-by-side installations as my video, I got 3 instances: Windows Client from NAV package setup, Production and Test from ClickOnce setup.
