Payroll for Bonus

I need to understand how to payout Bonus from Payroll.

I am able to generate normal monthly and hourly salaries, and enable to process the Bonus in the variable plans but I am stuck when coming to disbursed BONUS.

I had set earning Code for Bonus both Gross Up and Automatic. I had also enrolled variable plan to my employee pertaining to the desired percentage performance bonus. The award is reflected. Now the difficult is what pay frequency I can use to have ONE OFF PAYMENT for BONUS associated to my pay statement? I tried Annual, Monthly, Weekly etc. but no results.

What went wrong?

Can anyone help me setup such as Earning Codes, pay frequencies in associating generating payroll?

This right here is the biggest reason AX Payroll is like the worst great product out there.  It has a ton of functionality but nobody knows how to use it.  I too can not find any documentation ANYWHERE that explains how the hell to do a simple bonus payroll.  I am seriously regretting why we purchased AX Payroll instead of just the $500 QuickBooks payroll software.

Variable Compensation set up within the HR module does not integrate with the AX2012R2 Payroll module.  Only Fixed Compensation integrates directly with Payroll.  In order to handle bonus processing, there are a few ways to handle it but I would advise setting up a Payroll earning code with the necessary calculation frequency on the respective Worker record.  The amount of the bonus will need to be entered here (to replicate what the variable comp amount is), but that should pull it into payroll and allow it to show up on the worker's paycheck.

We finally figured it out how to do it.  You have to do what the user said above, you create a new Earning Code for bonus.  I've attached the screenshot for the settings.  We have four different kinds of bonuses:  Flat Amount, Weekly (meaning their weekly paycheck amount, in which case you would enter a quantity of just "1" when adding an earnings line for it), Gross Up and Gross Up for Taxes.  The Gross up's go together, the regular gross up earning code has to be linked to the gross up taxes code.  TechNet actually explains how to do that pretty well.  Sorry for the terrible quality screenshot, but good ol' Dynamics website only allows a 64kb image to be uploaded.  That is not surprising at all...

Hi I created new earning code as well. I had generate and load the variable award in each employee. Nevertheless, when I generate the Bonus-Flat how come it is showing "1" instead of populating the units I get from the Variable Award Plan?

Why is it showing "1" where??  We never set up Variable Award Plans so I'm not sure I can help with that but I'll try.

    Hi TJ,

Based on your previous corresponds, you are saying create earning codes, but manually entered in the earning statement?

I was presuming that the earning code was able to populate the variable awards into the earning statement lines.

    Nevertheless, thanks for the assistance.

Pretty much yea.  We create the bonus earning codes as shown in the screenshot and then just add them as lines on the earning statement and process the "Additional" type pay statement.  All TechNet documentation says to create earning codes as primary and additional but we want bonuses to always be separate so we set those to be of type "Additional".

Variable Compensation Plans are not integrated with the Payroll Module.

Use the Fixed compensation Plans, and create a separate earning code for the Bonus and manually enter the amount for each worker unless you have a multiple with reference to the regular hours worked.

Hope this might work for you.

Depends on the scenario and business type. We have a lot of clients who disburse the Annual Bonus payments along with their normal payroll and it reflect in their pay slips as well.
