Responsibility center and reports

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

I may be incorrect, but I have observed that reports do not respect responsibility center. Therefore, a user is able to view sales orders created for other responsibility centers. I was thinking to apply security filters to sales header table, however, permission sets do not allow expression to evaluate logged in user's details when it comes to adding a security filter. They allow only static values.

What's best way to fix this issue so that reports respect responsibility center?

Thanks.

    Hi Marco:

Thanks a lot for your reply. I think that I know about the page you have mentioned. Unfortunately that does not discuss about anything beyond how to set up a responsibility center. The same page, in fact, talks about a reality that the responsibility center does not work beyond web GUI, PO (purchase orders) and SO (sales orders). So, this does not work well when it comes to restricting the data shown in the reports. It is good that a user cannot see other documents on web GUI using responsibility center, but the same user can run a report and retrieve the info. So, indirectly it is not serving the purpose. Unless I rewrite all the reports, I don't see other alternatives to restrict a user to not see other's SO. Rewriting all the reports I like to fix is a big job. So, I am wondering whether there is another work around or solution.

This is a common requirement when restricting access to data where users still can see master data in search screens and reports.  Have you tried configuring further restrictions using permissions?

I believe that a user still need required access in order to add/update records within a responsibility center. The issue arises when the reports are printed; the records produced in the reports do not respect the responsibility center. Therefore, I was trying to find a way to fix this. I was hoping a common place where I can restrict the query for the reports so that records returned in the reports are limited to responsibility center. As you have mentioned that this is a common requirement, however, it looks like that it is not that common when it comes to the reports. Please let me know if you have any suggestion. Thanks.

Yes this is a limitation and there is no event you can use to override this globally. I think the least amount of effort can be put into having a dedicated permission set per person this needs to be applied to. That way you can stick to the static nature of this feature without writing all the reports again with a special function.

The only other option would be to stop those users from having access to the reports and create new one’s based on web services of page objects, in excel for example, so the required code can be run.
