Dear

I am trying to find a Default salesperson ID on the customer card

it doesn't have to be a sales person , it could be anything linked to the workers

why isn't there anything on the customer card , although on the sales order itself , there is two fields Sales Responsible and Sales Taker

i was expecting that if we link a customer to a district , then the district will have its sales person but that didn't turn out to be true

my aim is to have a default sales person on the customer card

    Patrick,

Have you looked in Customer > Sales Demographics > Employee Responsible

No that image I put up is from an Azure demo I'm running AX2012 R3 CU9 base.

You may have it hidden. Try right clicking in the fast tab and look for the Show option. You may have hidden it by mistake.

Also go to File > Tools > Options > Usage Data > Reset > Log out log back in.

Let me know if that helps.

It's perfectly reasonable and common to assign a sales person to a customer, but the relationship is not as straight forward as Employee responsible.

Create a Commission sales group (Sales and marketing, Setup, Commissions, Sales groups), and then click the Sales rep. button on the action pane, and assign one or more Sales persons to the sales group.  Note that you can assign each a percentage, which factors into commission calculations, but that is not required.  Select the "default" sales person by checking the Contact check box on their record.  Then on the Customer card, set the Sales group, under Sales order defaults.

This is the classic standard way of defining true sales persons for a customer.  The default one is the one where Contact is checked.

    Hope this helps.

Brandon I never knew this was the correct way to set up the Sale Person. Makes perfect sense especially since you can have multiple reps assigned under one customer.

Question - If we're not using AX commissions calculations and have a customized way to report commissions is there any harm done in using the functionality you recommend?

Without a complete commissions setup, including the commission rules themselves, no commission calculation can be done (or the result is always 0, whichever makes more sense to you), and no harm is done.
