New to Dynamics CRM

Hi I am just new to Dynamics 365 moving across from Salesforce, we have just started to building our Organisation and noticed that our Production and Sandbox are different versions. I have scheduled to update our Sandbox, however we would like to move all the changes across. We keep getting errors when I am trying to move everything across. Does any have any documentation or idea on the best way to move everything across. I  have created about 5 different solutions. Thanks Heaps

    Hi,

Yes, I'd strongly recommend always working with solutions. Add everything you create or modify to them, export and then import to Production. From time to time there are reasons why you might want to replace the Sandbox with a copy from Production, but normal practice would be to package up your changes in solutions and move them through environments (you can have more than one sandbox).

    Cheers,

    John

    Hi,

When moving customisations to Production from Sandbox for the first time it can be quite challenging, especially if you have a lot of customisations. We usually try to move things over as we go, and get the client to review them. Anyway, in your case I’d recommend creating a solution that just contains your custom fields & relationships, and any system ones that you’ve modified. This lays down a foundation on top of which you should be able to deploy the other solutions.

    Cheers,

    John

    Hello,

I will suggest you to first go through Solution details if you have not done yet: msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334576.aspx here you can understand solution details.

While moving contents, it is always recommended to move just your specific changes unless you don't have dependent components missing in the target system (In that case you need to include those dependent component in your solution as well). So you can simply include only partial components in your solution. you can check this post for more details: www.inogic.com/.../solution-patching-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2016

    Hope it will help.
