CDS Data source connection issues in Customer insights

Posted on by 572

I am able to add data sources through excel and note pad.

But, when i tried to import my organization contacts data through CDS, Application keeps failing to import data.

I have attached screenshot.

Where i can see the error and troubleshoot the issue with data import?

Did your CDS Contacts data refresh successfully in the past?  The screenshot seems indicate that it refreshed successfully two days ago.  Sometimes the data sources fail to refresh for a period of time but then refreshes again later.  I have a CDS connection for Contacts and it is currently refreshed successfully.  If it has never successfully refreshed then make sure that the CDS instance is in the same cloud tenant as your Customer Insights instance.  Here are the steps I used to connect CDS to Customer Insights.

    1. Click Data -> Data Sources in the left hand menu
    2. Click Add Data Source on the top left of the page
    3. Name the Data Source and Click Next
    4. On the Choose Data Source page, select Common Data Service
    5. Add your Dynamics 365 URL (e.g. ORGNAME.crm.dynamics.com) and click Sign
In. Sign In with the credentials that you use to access Dynamics 365.
    6. Click Next
    7. Expand the Entities Folder and select the Contact table then click Transform Data
    Customer Insights
    8. On the Edit Queries Page, you have an opportunity to limit the columns that you wish to
ingest. Click Home -> Choose Columns.
    9. Then click OK

    I hope that helps,

Hi Srini! I have had similar problems!!!. Hope the team provide an answer.

A possible workaround: What I did in the past was to edit the datasource with the Power Query editor. I realized that some of my Power Query steps were (apparently) causing the problem, so I removed them. Never knew why, but when I removed those steps,  the ingestion process finished. Hope this helps!
