Dear All,

Could you help me, my user when doing product receipt, have infolog message like below.

what is the problem, anyone could help ?

I really need explanation about this case.

you need to assign a serial number for your purchase lines

It means the item's Tracking dimension group is configured to use 'serial number' and that the serial number is not allowed to be blank> It also means that the item's serial number group is not configured to auto-create serial numbers.

A common scenario is that you will enter the serial number given to each item by the vendor, and this will be done during the receiving process (i.e. before attempting to post the product receipt).

Do you know if this item is meant to have Serial enabled? Do you use Purchase line registration, Item arrival journals or something else in your receiving process?

we never assign serial number at purchase order lines.

is there any suspect from other location ?

Hi Guy,

Yes, its not brand new created item, its old item.

we use item arrival journal and create serial number by splitting the qty.

we never had this issue, it is because the serial number already used for other item ?

As Guy Terry said check your item setup as the following

if your item does not configure as a serial item, you need to debug this issue

Check all the inventory transactions linked to the Purchase order line. Do they ALL have a serial number?

I access => open purchase order lines, never use SN in purchase order line.
