Fixed asset acquisition error message

Hi all,

I have been using the FA module in D365 for 1.5 years and am suddenly having a problem that I hope someone can help with.

Multiple acquisitions are set to yes.  I can acquire the asset either through a PO or an invoice journal. Both methods have worked perfectly in the past.

As of this month I have a couple of extra costs associated with the certain fixed assets.  Basically I need to increase the acquisition value.  I cannot post an invoice journal as it is giving me an error message that only one fixed asset per transaction is allowed.  (there is only one) .  I have also tried a work-around solution by doing a fixed asset acquisition journal and I am still getting the same message.  The only common occurence that I can see is that the 3 assets in question all started being depreciated in 2019 and now I am trying to increase the acquisition cost in 2020 after depreciation has been run.   All assets are set to yes for creating a depreciation adjustment.

I have checked all of the obvious settings and can't see anything obvious.  2019 is still open at the moment  - not sure if that makes a difference??

There is also a fixed asset roll-forward.  Is it possible that I have to run this for 2019 before I post the extra costs in 2020?

99% percent of our fixed assets have been acquired through a staged billing process and the process has always worked in the past.  Just having this issue with three assets in particular.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Can you please share the screen print of that error message, Is it shows "There can only be one fixed asset transaction per voucher"? Or different msg.

It seems to me a number sequence issue.

    Hello Sarah,

Do you know if somebody implemented an update of D365FO or changed some parameter settings?

If things worked perfectly fine it sounds strange to hear that after such a long time something goes wrong.

Would be great if you could e.g. do a comparison of the fixed asset settings and parameters from your production with an older test system where you do not run into the same issue.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Sarah,

If you receiving the error message "There can only be one fixed asset transaction per voucher"- Suggest to to set the General ledger parameters > 'Allow multiple transaction within one voucher' to 'yes' and then try to post the journal.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Sheela

    Sheela,

that helped! - the system wants to post a depreciation adjustment at the time of invoice posting when I am increasing the acquisition cost so it is a multi line journal under the same voucher number. I know how to sort out my problem now.  Thank you so much.

RE: Fixed asset acquisition error message

    Thanks everyone,

Sheela ( see below) suggested turning "allow multiple transaction within one voucher" to yes.  I was then able to post the invoice.  It ended up being multi-line as it was creating the depreciation adjustment at the invoice posting stage.  I know how to sort this out now that I could see what it was trying to do.

Thanks for all of the help.
