Dear All,

Is't possible to install 2 instances of reporting server in AX 2012 R3? Because of avoid load balancing in report server customer wants to create 2 reporting server instances. Then they can divided users accordingly.
Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

    Hi Arpan,

Are you experiencing performance issues due to the load on a reporting server? You can setup multiple reporting servers and link each on a certain AOS. When you do have multiple AOS machines you should setup multiple records per AOS on the Report servers form in AX2012 anyway. So you can also try to link each AOS to a certain reporting server. You then have to deploy the reports to multiple reporting servers.

Note: I haven't seen such configuration myself, so you have to test it carefully first.

    Thanks Andre,

As per your answer i understood that we need multiple AOS instances then only we can setup multiple reporting servers.

    For example :

Scenario 1:      AOS Instances            Reporting Instances

                             AOS 1                           Reporting Server 1

                             AOS 2                           Reporting Server 2
    Please confirm.
    Thanks!

    Hi Arpan

Is not necessary activate more AOSs.

    Take a look here,blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-reporting-services-scale-out-deployments

In order to balance the SSRS loading, you can install multiple SSRS services and create a Network load Balanced (NLB) cluster. Then configure your AX report server to point to this NLB address.

Take care that this configuration require SQL Server Enterprise Edition!

    Thanks Denis

Where to setup "Network load balancing"? How I can I map multiple Reporing server Instance in to this?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Thanks!

Denis -  okay, I'm trying to get this all to work, but I'm having a hell of a time with NLB.  The scale-out part is just fine.  However when I set up the NLB part, one or the other, or both, of my SSRS servers get an exclamation mark on the network icon and become completely useless.  I've set up NLB to only be on port 80, but I'm unable to reach whichever machine has the icon, and that machine isn't able to reach any network resources.  Is there something more to this particular whitepaper that I'm not missing?

    TIA

Are you using Enterprise SQL edition or standard? Enterprise is needed for the advice to work

At SQL 2016 Sp1 you can add more SQL standard to scale out but not at prior versions.
