Respected experts,

I have been requested to setup a one time redeemable option for my POS sale.

Scenario:

I buy 500 worth of coupon/gift card and gift it to my friend. He with his wife buys few things and upon checkout present the coupon/gift card to the cashier. Assume the sale was 354 in total the cashier took the card and cleared their order. Now, there should nothing be left as remaining to that coupon/gift card etc.

Technology in use:
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 - Retail POS

Out of the box, there is no option to mark a gift card as single redemption.

To automatically clear balance on the gift card, try creating a new tender type by the name " Gift Card Balance" and configure it as the balance tender for your gift card tender. If a customer buys for 354, tender the GV as 500 so that the balance will be processed as new tender. I am not sure if this will work as I have never tested it personally.

Hi Waqar Ahmed,

You can achieve this by doing a small workaround at AX level.

Asked your technical consultant to write a code to block the Gift Card after first redemption transaction against that gift card.

There is 1 checkbox on gift card form under retail/inquiries.

hi waqar,

Now days this is very common scenario in all industry, for this you need to do some simple customization at back office and also at POS level.

you can also define the expire date on gift voucher.

1.at back office with the help of your technical make one field on gift card form named as one time Redemption.

2.and on POS make one field with same name on Gift gift card issue form.

3. update this field at back office with the help of real time service( for this you have to do customization).

4. and at the time of redemption just validate this field with back office field whether one time redemption field mark as true or false.

Thank you Irfan, we also came to the same conclusion after discussion with both the technical team. Something surprising however caught my eyes, there are objects created line OneTimeRedeem and classes also are there which refer to the policy setup to gift card but to my amaze I was unable to figure out how to imply them. May be that was a work in progress that they have finalized and provided in 365 instead.

Anyways I am thankful for your response to the query.

hi waqar,

yes waqar there is one table that is RetailGiftCardPolicy table and in this table there is one field that is OneTimeRedemptoin, if your technical team utilize this field it is well and good but in our case we will create new field for this scenario, because i am not sure base field functionality is not working currently.
