Customer Classification (customer types or category)

Posted on by 369

When importing customers into Dynamics NAV, it is highly important to have a classification such as the one in the items (Item Category.)

Is there any criteria that allows me to classify my customers ? such as retail, wholesales, VIP ..etc.

Or even like a hierarchy which allows me to classify them on a hierarchical classifications  ? Like under retail (class A, class b) ...etc.

Thanks in Advance,

    Hello,

Creating the Customer Posting Group and Vendor Posting Group is the best option to categorize the customer or vendor. it will also be available for filtration of reports and other analysis.

You can also manage your own analytical dimensions.

You can try to use the customer posting group on customer, and same on the vendor or have to create new table and link to the master tables.

There is no field like Customer category but you can do following

    1) Define different customer posting group to identify the customers OR

    2) Define different no series for customer OR

    3) Take help of developer and add field customer category
