Has anyone used Dynamics 365 Sales to implement a sales calling plan?

Our sales team members are required to call on specific contacts over a time period (per week, per month, etc.).  We have this laid out in excel.  We tried implementing the calling plan by having our admin create individual "tasks" in Dynamics 365 Sales with the user as the owner of that task and with the task regarding the customer contact.  Once a salesperson has logged the customer interaction into Dynamics and tagged the customer contact, they then go to the task list and check it as completed.

However, in practice, creating the tasks is time-consuming.  It's not currently possible to create recurring tasks in Dynamics, nor create reminders for the user when incompleted task due dates are approaching.  It's also a bit disjointed, as the user has to log the interaction in a timeline somewhere and then go to a different place to mark the task as completed.

Ideally, the sales person would get a notice at the beginning of the week/month with the people they need to reach out to.  Then, as they complete those interactions and log them, the system recognizes the interaction has occurred and marks it somewhere as completed.

Has anyone successfully implemented a recurring calling plan that the sales team can follow each week?

Are they manually creating the call record in the timeline? Or do they use Teams to make the call and it automatically gets logged?

We don't need the interaction between customer and salesperson to be a call.  It could be an email tracked to Dynamics or a post where they've "tagged" or "mentioned" the customer contact saying they had a meeting.  We want that interaction (whatever it was) to count towards the task completion.

    Hi partner,

We can use Power Automate Flow or workflow to create a weekly task and send reminder email to contacts. After customers have called, they can create a phone call record in timeline and then we can create a workflow to mark the task completed automatedly.
