I have a GL account which is marked with 'Locked in Journal' in Chart of accounts. Will this marking of check-box prevent all types of postings to this account?

It means there can be no direct posting to that account. For instance, you might have an accounts receiveable sales g/l locked in journal. This gl would still allow the transactions to post to this gl when the invoice is posted but you could not post an entry to this gl using a general journal.
