Hi All,
We know that enums are added or removed from backend, is there any way that we can add or remove the enum values from front end , user can add perticular enums from form.
Please advise us.
Regards,
Akbar
Hi Akbarpasha,
This is not possible in D365 F&O. Enum elements can be added only from the backend. If you want to remove Enum elements at runtime you can add code for that. But adding or removing Enum elements from front end is not possible.
Thanks,
Girish S.
Thank yolu Girirsh for the confirmation, we also knows the same it can be done from backend only.
Also, if you do like that, it will be hard for developers to find out which Enum values are added and which Enum values are deleted.
Suppose there is some code written against one Enum value and the user deleted that Enum value from front end.
Now it will throw a build error that Enum element does not exist.
So, it's not recommended to change the metadata of the Enum elements. Instead control them in the code level.
If you want something where users can add and remove elements, use a table, not an enum.
Thank you Marting for the Info,
Requirement is , users wants to add new project stages from front end, project stage is enum, and we can add the new stages from back end only.
There are three user defined stages which can be renamed from the front-end and you can configure what transactions can be posted with each stage. This can be found on the project management parameters.
