Question about Restoring PROD to SAT

(0) ShareShare

According to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/database/dbmovement-scenario-exportuat

DB Refresh operations support up to 4TB.

But Tier2 SAT database maximum size seems to be around 65GB.

So if Prod DB is 200GB and you restore PROD to SAT what will happen?

Does the restore fail? -or-

Will the SAT Azure SQL database auto expand? If not, do the premier performance test servers support a bigger database size?

I have the same question (0)

How did you determine that the maximum database size for SAT is 65 GB?

In Microsoft documentation (D365 licensing guide) they only say that the total combined max database size for your F&O systems is 4 TB.

    Hi

I had an issue with DB refresh when 1Tb+ database didn't fit to sandbox and refresh operation failed because Azure SQL sandbox tier level supports only up to 1Tb database. The operation failed, but it was solved by the support team - they increased Azure SQL DB tier from P6 to P11 so it will support up to 4Tb database and scale it down back to P6. According to documentation P1-P6 tiers support up to 1Tb, and in your case, you should not get any issues.

    BR, Sergei
