All - this is regarding an issue we are having with advanced warehousing in Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU13.
Example:
- Sales order for item 123, which is out of stock, is 'Reserve ordered' against a PO
- The PO is received in via the mobile client into a 'Receiving' warehouse location. The inventory is currently in a 'Registered' status as the PO work still needs closed to put the inventory away to the Stock location.
- Once the inventory is Registered, the sales order reservations is now 'Reserved physical'
- The 'Automatic release of sales orders' batch job now tries to release the sales order to the warehouse, but our location directives do not include the 'Receiving' location, only the 'Stock' location
- The result is a shipment is created but cannot fully allocate as the inventory is not put away so it cannot create the pick work and is not waved
- Now we have to wait for the inventory to be put away, then manually delete the existing shipment/load so the system can properly release the sales order.
We thought we could solve this by using a different inventory status on the purchase order and only move the inventory to 'Available' when it is in the Stock location. But the issue with this is the sales orders will never 'reserve order' against the purchase orders as they have different inventory status.
Our reservation hierarchy is pretty standard - Site - Warehouse, Inventory status - Location - License plate.
It seems this should be a very common problem, but we just aren't sure how to solve it without code modifications.
