Hello, I am trying to install the Data Import Export Framework, which was released on March 14 2013thI am running Windows Server 2008R2 with SQL 2012 SP1, have also tested Windows Server 8 and even make a completely new installation of Windows Server 2008R2 but get the same error "Gacutil utility four registering .NET 4.0 assembly" I have also tried to install Visual Studio 2010, and Microsoft Windows SKD for Windows 7 and. NET Framework 4 - tools without result.
Does anyone have the same problem? Or solve the problem?

If you have Windows SDK installed then you might also have the .NET 4 version of gacutil.exe, check out %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools, but I suppose that the installer just can't find it, so you should add the folder to the %path% or something.

Haris, do you have VS 2010 SP1 installed?

Hi, I had the same issue. I downloaded the installation package again today and it worked without any errors.

When I check the process, the msi is looking for the gacutil.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\.

I made a copy of the gacutil.exe and gacutil.exe.config, put them there and managed to get pass the pre-req check.

I've already checked that I have gacutil.exe and gacutil.exe.config and folder 1033 and file gacutlrc.dll

    under %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\

The files are there but unfortunately I will not pass pre-req check,

I have been tested on different servers, it's apparently many people have the same problem .. but for some it works..hmm

I have worked together with Microsoft on this issue and there seems to bug with the installer related to Regional Settings. When I set the Regional Settings to English (United States), the installer validates correctly, but when I set it to Norwegian, Bokmål (Norway), the validation failes.

A workaround for this is to set Regional Settings to English (United States) during installation. I suspect that the gacutil is only necessary for registering assemblies at install-time and that regional settings therefore safely can be set back to original settings after the installation has finished.

Copying the files gets past the pre-req screen but then this error occurs.
