Tracking PO via PO Document Inquiry Window

Hi, I'm trying to track a client's PO on Great Plains. I have created the PO in the PO entry window under 1Staff, with a certain number of hours and amount. Once I have a job invoiced against the PO, the amount and hour remaining should go down on PO Document Inquiry window however it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of a situation or can guide an overall process for tracking PO's ? Thanks

That is not how POs in GP work. On the PO Inquiry screen you can enter the PO number and then choose whether you want to see open or historical PO plus whether you want to see any receipts off that PO. The receipts will show you the quantity ordered and then quantity shipped/invoiced plus the quantity previously shipped/invoice. It does not show you amount yet to be received.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting on forums.  With purchase order processing you can review a vendors PO by going to the ALL purchasing view.  More information in the following link.

    community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2015-r2-purchasing-all-in-one-view

Enter the vendor and filter on the PO so see all transactions against that po.  If you zoom into the PO, you should be able to see the Remaining PO Subtotal on the lower left hand side of the window to tell you from a dollar value what is left to be received.  You can also look at each line (i with circle on it) next to the item number field.  This will show you at a glance what has been shipped, invoiced and returned against the PO for that line item.    It also shows Remaining to Ship and remaining to Invoice.

    Hope this helps.

    Warmest Regards,

    Angela

    Hi Mithu,

Aside of the answers others provided, In your case the Project Accounting module would be more appropriate to track hours from resources and to bill clients.. You should talk your VAR or partner on how to use it and/or set it up.
