Share profile page customization between profiles

Situation: Utilizing 'Customize Pages' from the profiles page.

I have several profiles / roles which want to have the same view for various pages. (i.e. hiding fields and buttons)

I cannot use 'designer' functionality as this would conflict with other roles.

Is there a way to link profiles to the same page customization or distribute a page customization to a selection of profiles?

I have the same question (0)

    Not in the user interface as long as you can not use the designer.

    So then you will need to contact a developer.

    Hi, Sorry I haven't tried it.
    When you modify the Profile, the page customization object is actually generated in the background. You can export this data.
    Then add these page customization objects to another profile file, and then import it into BC.

    Hope this helps.

    ZHU thanks for your answer on this one.

    I have tried it out.

    In Profile._xxxx_.al you can point to the same configuration.

    Customizations = Configuration59;
    It is possible to point all profiles to the same customization configuration and delete the obsolete PageCustomization._xxxx files. Import in BC succesful. So far, so good.

    However upon import, the system will create individual copies for each profile. Therefore it is not possible to keep a fixed link between profile customizations (i.e. edit for one profile and apply it to a set of other profiles automatically). Exporting the profiles again confirms this.

    As a conclusion;

    It is possible to make it manageable. How to:
    • Create one or more template profiles
    • Customize these profiles
    • Use visual studio code to replace all on multiple files. Utilize regex for matching.
