I have a text field that uses the auto complete control to suggest available options from an option set for the user to select from. Sometimes users want to enter data that isn't in the available list and have to get the system admin to update the underlying option set. Is there a way to get the system to bypass the autocomplete feature if the data entered isn't in the option set?
Hi,
Can you share some more details about the field? is it a out of box field or custom field. In which entity you are using this field. A screenshot will be helpful .
Thanks,
Soumen
Hi Soumen,
Its a custom field - Single Line of Text on the Contact Entity.
Like in the screen shot, I am trying to type in Dallas but since this city isn't in the City Option set, I can't save the form
Thanks for sharing the details.
you can not add on the go data in option set fields. either use a simple text field or make all the city available in the list.
Thanks for the recommendation Soumen
Fixed this through configuration. Created replica City and Province Text fields and used a business rule to display these fields if client's address is international. To ensure consistency for scenarios where templates are being generated, a workflow copies the data in the international City and Province fields into the original Auto Complete enabled City and Province fields
