Announcements
I've a dozen staff in the company using Dynamics 365 - 1 member of staff in the last few days has found their CRM add-in no longer loading properly.
After a few attempts to load, it generates a yellow bannered message indicating a failure:
So far I have
* stripped out the office installation and WebView2 installations entirely;:
* cleared through the leftovers from the
\Program Files\,
\ProgramData\,
\Program Files (x86),
\%userprofile%\appdata\local\Microsoft\Office\,
\%userprofile%\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\Office\
* reinstalled Office from myaccount.microsoft.com
* ensured it's running the latest version (Build 16.0.16227.20202)
* reinstalled the latest version of WebView2 using the 1.3.173.55 installation package
Yet it's still doing the same as before.
The mailbox is configured fine, default settings and re-tested from with CRM without issue, and the CRM functionality works in OWA - it's just local to this one user and the desktop Outlook application.
During testing, I found with WebView2 NOT installed, the add-in would generate a blue backed message about the version of Outlook not being supported, which based on the information here:
Browsers used by Office Add-ins - Office Add-ins | Microsoft Learn
Would make sense.
Re-installing WebView 2 again, returned back to the previous yellow backed error message about being unable to load due to an unknown error.
A nice thought, but no dice. All the CRM users have the same set of policies in place - including trusts and third-party cookies.
At this point I'm leaning heavily towards nuking the device wholesale next week when the user is in the city.
Hi,
You may have GPO for Edge that prevent the component from running properly (or a not synchronized workstation ?). You can see them by navigating to edge://policy. For more information: learn.microsoft.com/.../configure-microsoft-edge
You can also check if the dynamics url is in trusted website. See computersluggish.com/.../
A quick follow-up on the original post.
Used SARA to do a total uninstall again, still no change in the behaviour of Outlook and the plugin.
Have discovered that while the Dynamics add-in works in Chrome using OWA, it does NOT in fact work in Edge.
Diagnostic Checks seem like something of a red herring:
