Dear All,

We can see all "DLL files" under AOT -- Refrences.
Could you please let me know when it's actually generated? and which purpose it's required?

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

Arpan Sen

    Hi @rp@n,

Using AOT -> Refrences node you can add reference to external dll. They can contain logic written on c sharp for example. Please read this article for details msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg881320.aspx

You forgot to tell is which DLL file you're talking about. Different DLL files obviously have different purposes and are generated at different times by different companies, tools etc.

They are not "generated" it's a code written outside of AX, sometimes by 3rd parties or MS, you can create one and put it to bin folder. They are created by AX installation and could be updated by AX hot-fixes and CU.

Dll contains code that you can use in AX. For example, you can find "ste-net" reference in AOT, this is Symmetry tax engine 3rd party software for tax.

Sometimes it's easier to use code written on different language as dll instead of rewriting it on x++.

    Thanks Ievgen,

Program Files- Microsoft Dynamics AX - 60 - Server - Microsoft Dynamics AX - Bin

Point 1: Microsoft Dynamics AX : DLL Files

    1411.P2.png

Note : I think the above dll files are coming in the time of installation OR Hotfix uploded OR up gradation of CU of any versions.

    Point 2 : Other DLL Files :
    1411.P2.png

Note : These dll files are generated when we connect with 3rd party tools.

Point 3 : Suppose if i connect with any 3rd party tool through AIF services from AX and wrote some business logic over there. When we try to connect with 3rd party tool from AX then it will add dll file in to AOT under refrences node as well as Bin folder.
Please confirm. all above scenarios are correct?

    Thanks!

Not really, as you can see from my previous post "ste-net" is 3rd party tax engine. It's not about AIF or connection to something. General you will add reference to dll that contains code you want to use in AX, so if you need code that calculates US tax you can build your one or use "ste-net" library.

As I said before you can create your own class library in c# or other language, add it as a reference and use from x++ code.

    Thanks Ievgen,

    Thanks!

Point 1. They are created by MS for AX and deployed with installation.

Point 2. They probably are bought from 3rd party or created by MS but not AX specific.
