Licensing SQL for NAV question.

Hello Microsoft

I have a request, we have implemented and started to work our implementation for NAV  customer. We installed SQL standard edition currenlty it expired so it does not allowed us to open the database anymore.

We have "changed" through  theNAV development client, the NAV license for this customer currenlty activated. But it does not open the SQL database and the upload button is grayed out. Still does not allow us to license sql.

We believe its because we installed the standard edition , not the Runtime from partner source. so now what could we do here. Could you give us advice on how to procede here..  should we uninstall the standard and install theSQL runtime edition and try to license again so maybe it  works, or maybe should i request the license in the partner portal for SQL standard. we are stuck here

In development client. Click change licence first. Select the license. Then connect to the server. Then open the license window and click upload.

Hi, If I understood ur problem correctly . U r SQL licencse is expired and you are not able to open database. SQL Licencse is different to NAV Licencse . So in u r case you may need an SQL Licence since you mentioned you have Nav licence already. regarding SQL Runtime it is like a CAL Licence . you can find a Microsoft nice post about SQL Server Runtime licensing model here:

If you bought SQL runtime when you are purchasing NAV licence.

You can change your edition, use the link.

    technet.microsoft.com/.../cc707783(v=sql.110).aspx

Or if you didn't buy and licence you can use EXPRESS edition
