It depends on whether direct delivery, or multiple companies are involved. This is not the sort of response I would normally give -  I don't think the forum is meant to be a substitute for proper training  but more to help with specific issues you might encounter. courses- this information is generally  available in training materials and help or extended blog posts. Anyway its a Saturday so here goes........

    Basic steps:

    - Verify the value mapping parameters are set up to convert the return reason code go to Sales and Marketing > Common > Customers > All customers.  Double-click Customer account, click the General tab, click Intercompany in the action pane.  Click Sales value mapping. Select Our in the Return reason code field. Also select Our in the Disposition code. Click the Purhase value mapping tab.  Select Our in the Return reason code field. Also select Our in the Disposition code.

    Close the form.

    -Create a return order

Open Sales and marketing > Common > Return orders > All return orders. Click Return order to create a new return order. Enter the Customer data in the create return order form and click O.K. The Return Material Authorization (RMA) number is generated automatically by a number sequence. This is the reference number that is printed on the back order packing slip. An Infolog  informs that an Intercompany purchase order is created. Clear and Close the Infolog. Click the Header view on the Action Pane and then click on the Return reason code arrow, where information about why the customer wants to return the items can be selected - when you are using reason codes. Click O.K. A new return order is created.

    - Select the sales order to return against. Click Find sales order to display all invoiced sales orders to the selected customer. Pick the one to return.  In the Find sales order dialog box, either select the whole order by marking in the upper grid or select a single order line by marking it in the lower grid. Confirm by clicking O.K. The quantity is negative. to reduce the quantity to be returned in the Find sales order dialog or on the return order line Click General > Intercompany purchase order to view the Intercompany purchase order.  To return the items to the Intercompany vendor, click the Purchase tab and then click Confirm. lick the Receive tab and click Product receipt. Enter a Product receipt number and then click O.K. 1Close the Purchase order form. Clear and Close the infolog. 1lose the Return order form.

    - In the other company to receive the items returned

Open Inventory and warehouse management > Periodic > Arrival overview. Select Return order in the Setup name field to display expected arrivals from return orders. Select the receipt with the attached RMA number in the Select for arrival field. usually the last record line.  Click Start arrival to create an arrival journal for the return order.  To open the arrival journal, highlight the message in the Infolog and then click Show. If you are using disposition codes, then verify your intercompany mapping parameters to make sure they are set up correctly. (Sales and Marketing > Customers > All Customers select Customer account end click Edit on the Action pane.) Click the General tab and then click Intercompany.  Click Purchase value mapping and verify (or change) the Return reason code and Disposition code are set to Our. Click Sales order value mapping and verify (or change) the Return reason code and Disposition code are set to Our. Close the Intercompany and Customer forms.

If you have mapped disposition codes, then click Lines and then click the General tab. . Click the Disposition code arrow and on the General tab, for example (Scrap). This determines what happens to items when they are returned.  Post the journal and return to the return order. After verifying the mapping parameters, in the Journal lines form, click the Disposition code arrow and select the Scrap code.  Click Post to post the journal and click OK. Close the Infolog. Close the Journal lines, Item arrival and Arrival overview forms if those are still open.

-Generate the packing slip for the return order. Open Sales and marketing > Common > Return orders > All return orders, double-click the original return order previously created. 34. Click Packing slip in the Generate group on the Action Pane. Select All in the Quantity field, select the Print packing slip check box, and then click OK. 35. Click Yes to the message and Close the packing slip. 36. Close the Return order form.

    - To create a credit note

The return order must be invoice updated from the Sales order form that contains the return orders. Open Sales and marketing > Common > Sales

orders > All sales orders. The system automatically creates the sales order from the return order. Locate the associated sales order (last line record for this demonstration) and double-click on the line record. Click the Invoice tab and then click Invoice on the Action pane.  The system displays the Posting invoice form. Click OK and then click OK to the warning message. The system updates the status to Invoiced. The system automatically creates a credit note because the

sales balance is negative.  Click Manage > Intercompany purchase order.  Confirm the purchase order by clicking the Purchase tab and then click Confirm.

    - To Post the invoice,

click the Invoice tab and then click Invoice on the Action pane. Click Post and then click Post again.

You can also configure whether the RMA numbers will be synchronized automatically between the Intercompany sales orders and Intercompany purchase orders.
