Why nav has slowed down?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Nav is no longer as fast as in the first month, some users of the system have reported a noticeable delay when they perform some interaction with the system, for example when creating a new Purchase Invoices.
Why ?

we have:

- Live time: 3 months

- HyperV machine client:
 Memory: 64 GB
 Processors: 2 (2.6 GHz)
 Disk Space: OK (Green)

- HyperV machine Nav Server:
  Memory: 24 GB
  Processors: 2 (2.6 GHz)
 Disk Space: OK (Green)

- HyperV machine SQL Server:
 Memory: 64 GB
  Processors: 2 (2.6 GHz)
 Disk Space: OK (Green)

- 3 profiles (But each user personalizes its interface) (Does this affect performance?)
- Approximately 20 users connected at a time at the highest peaks.
- In the client machine not only runs Nav, but other systems, but the memory is maintained between 35% - 45% of use.
We have policies for storing logs (Deletion, Insertion, Modification) (Does this affect performance?)

- Is it possible for users who have default Nav profiles to have a faster interaction with the system than users using a custom profile?

Thanks in advance.

Maintaining multiple profiles should not cause any performance issue, try to restart the NAV Services and see if that makes any difference.

Performance of NAV is something which consists of multiple probabilities, so you need to look from all perspectives, some of them are -

    1 - System configuration.

    2 - IOPS

3- Simultaneous load on the system

4- Multiple users doing same operation at the same time.

5- Posting of Orders OR Invoices at the same time.

    6- Code Quality.

7 - Recently if you have added multiple flow fields.

First of all, check the settings and ensure that the access to the disk is set from normal to high priority.

Also, check what are the customizations done to the database, especially the added fields and the logic that is put on those. There might be weird flowfields added that has too complex logic, and with some growth of data they start to slow down system considerably. Or, check if any batch jobs running in parallel with what users are doing.

       Nop this will not effect

this might be effect because some times sql sees memory it will pick some (on your

       other applications)

        Yes this is highly effect
