Retail Store Operations 2.0

Our company is using RMS Store Operations 2.0 (version 2.0.2022) with one company and 25 points of sale. Selecting an item property in the Store Operations Manager now takes 4–5 seconds to load, even though we have 26,000 items in the item table. and itemlookup index is clustered,

We’ve rebuilt indexes and verified there’s no network latency, but performance has not improved. RMS used to work fine, and we are looking for suggestions to restore normal speed until we migrate to a new system.

    Hello,
This isn’t about item count but likely a SQL performance issue (stats, execution plan, or blocking)—since rebuilding indexes didn’t help, the usual fix is to update statistics, check for blocking/waits during the item load, and capture the actual query + execution plan (Profiler/Extended Events), because RMS can suddenly slow down if SQL picks a bad plan or storage/AV starts interfering; in short, focus on SQL health (stats + plan + waits) rather than indexes alone.

Hello , The #1 culprit  of these cases is the “Show previously defined Item Sub Descriptions” setting. Open Store Operations Manager → File → Configuration → Options → Item Options and uncheck it (you can re-enable later if you need the dropdown). This alone drops the Properties dialog from 90+ seconds to <10 in most reports, even on the latest 2.0.2022 build.

If that doesn’t fix it, run Database → Re-index and Database → Check from the Store Operations Admin utility (after a quick backup). You already rebuilt indexes and confirmed the clustered itemlookup one, but the full RMS re-index often catches hidden fragmentation that the SQL one misses.

Quick extras that have helped others with the exact same “used to be instant, now lags” pattern:  Run the Manager directly on the SQL server (bypasses any tiny network hiccup).

Temporarily disable antivirus real-time scanning on the RMS folder and .mdb/.mdf files.

Make sure you’re on the absolute latest hotfix rollup for 2.0.2022 (KB3096600)  it’s from 2015 but still the final one.

These steps usually get you back to sub-second speed without touching code

Hotfix rollup 2821635 is available for Microsoft Dynamics RMS Store Operations 2.0 and Microsoft Dynamics RMS Headquarters 2.0 - Microsoft Support
