Hello to all

I am a Navision user NAV2009R2 but not a power user.

currently I am trying to challenge myself a bit more.

I have a list that in navision that i would like to export to excel. I now i can use the export to excel function but it's not that what i want.

i want to make in excel a connection to this list so my that is always refreshed.

how can i do that? i would like to make a few dashboard with that information and i don't want to spend my time exporting data the create everything everydays.

I would appreciate someone that could guide me with this task.

Sofia

    Hello to all

thanks for the replies and suggestions.

    1. i don't know that is the trigger, i just know that the list is updated every 5min.

    2. i try to make the get external connection, but i can't see my list. So i believe i need to make my list as a connection from navision, maybe.

this looks so simple, but i can't figure how to do it.

    more details are appreciated.

    Hi,

If you want to make a connection to excel, please refer this link:

    books.google.com.sg/books;pg=PT357&lpg=PT357&dq=connection+to+excel+using+stylesheet+in+nav&source=bl&ots=p_r8hzSYdk&sig=N6EGIhGlMMPeWZFwdrM2QpcoXSk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=QwQaVdKMIMniuQSkxoLIDg&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=connection%20to%20excel%20using%20stylesheet%20in%20nav&f=false

Do you want to and fro communication between excel and NAV and realtime?

If that's the case, what is the trigger point for the data to be updated in Excel from NAV?  Which will help me to identify where you have to write the code in NAV.

Please try the below link also for the connectivity:-

    Hi AkashaWalker,

Excel Get External Data can be a solution, you can refer to this link.

Otherwise, Jet Report is a very good tool for your requirement, and you need help from your NAV Supplier.

    Hi,

If I have correctly understood your query, you want to avoid the manual process of exporting the data to excel.  My suggestion is write a code to export the data to excel and call it upon the trigger point of the data being refreshed in NAV.  I.e, upon which action you refer that the data is modified or Inserted in NAV, you may trigger the code to export to excel, so that the latest data is automatically refreshed in the excel sheet.

If this is not requirement, pls provide some more details.

    Best Regards,

    MMV
