2022 1099's Box numbers

GP 18.5.1586 is showing 1099-MISC box numbers up to 17 as the actual text, but the state income on the 2022 1099-MISC form is Box 18.

I have to import a bunch of 1099 information from a "payroll" and re-number the boxed, so what do I put in for the actual Box 18? This is for tribal member income and taxes withheld - I don't think it is considered non-employee compensation as we have always used the 1099-MISC forms to report these.  Should I update everything to the 1099-NEC forms in the tables - I have thousands of transactions to deal with and not much time.

    Hi Deb,

Thank you for posting this.   I see the '1099 Details' window still lists Box 17' for state income, however, if you fill it in and print the 1099-MISC form, it does print in Box 18 correctly, so does appear to still work correctly.

Import one in as box 17 and one is as box 18 and then test printing each.  (I am assuming 'box 17' since that is what our window has and it should then print in box 18.)   But test one first to confirm.

You would have to consult a CPA to see if you should be using the 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC form.  I would assume you would continue using what you have in the past, but we don't advise you on what form to use.

I will work to get this reviewed here.  Thank you for letting us know.

    Thanks

Still having major issues with this and need immediate attention.  I wanted to send details, but screen shots include sensitive information that I cannot seem to redact.

Please let me know how to address this - it affects a majority of my tribal entities.

The box numbers in GP, 16 and 17 are not correct for the labels listed. I updated these in the PM30200 table and they showed in the Edit 1099 Trx as Box 11, I updated these manually (70+ out of over 200 vendors) and they show in the tables as Boxes 13 and 14.  Also, the Box 4 update shows as Box 7 in the PM00204, so nothing prints on the 1099-MISC for Federal withholdings and Box 3 takes everything entered (all 4 boxes and adds them together for a total).  This is a complete disaster.

Hi Deb, you shouldn't need to update anything in GP and it will automatically print in the correct box when you go to print the 1099 form.

As stated previously, this is just a display issue in GP and the code will automatically print it in the right box on the printed form.  So you shouldn't need to update anything in GP.

For example, in GP it has 'Box 17' for State Income, so just leave the amount in Box 17 in GP (as there is no option for Box 18 in GP listed).   Then when you print the 1099 MISC form, the code will automatically print the amount  in the correct Box 18 for State income on the printed form.  Please test that so you can verify.   There is no need to update anything in the data for GP, or you will create a mess.   Leave the old box numbers in GP and it will print correctly.   No manual edits to the data should be needed.

If I don't change the box numbers after the import - everything goes into Box 3 and all added together. This has been the case ever since the 1099-NEC form was added to GP.

I was told the integration Manager import will do this and there was no plan to fix it. back in 2021.

Okay, I didn't know you were using IM.   If that is what you were told in the past for that, then I wouldn't be able to change that.

Deb - I'm jumping into this without testing the data.  It sounds like you are running into issues with Integration Manager not being updated at the same rate as GP.

    A few ideas:

-What about adding a script to your integration to update the SQL data to the correct box during your import (post-script)?

-Are you able to update the data via SQL to get to the separate boxes you need?

-Is there any way to use the GP 1099 update utilities to get what you need (for example, by importing into one box and then using the utility to move it to the form/box you need)?

[In reading through Integration Manager feature requests at experience.dynamics.com I repeatedly see comments that "we do not plan to make further investments in IM".  - for example on one of your posts at Ideas List (dynamics.com).  ]

Box 3. Shows a return of capital. To the extent of your cost (or other basis) in the stock, the distribution reduces your basis and is not taxable. Any amount received in excess of your basis is taxable to you as capital ga   Krowd Darden

This reply has nothing to do with this issue.  This is 1099-MISC, Box 3, Other Income and it is taking all 4 Boxes of the 1099-MISC and adding them together for a total in Box 3 instead of just including what should be in Box 3.
