All-in-one deployable packages

Hello Experts,

I want to know All-in-one deployable packages.

I went through All-in-one deployable packages document. However, I don't get the way to create and apply All-in-one deployable packages.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/dev-tools/aio-deployable-packages#how-do-i-create-an-all-in-one-deployable-package

What is exactly the difference between All-in-one deployable packages and classic deployable packages in terms of procedure creating and applying package?

Also, how can I create an all-in-one deployable package?

From docs:

How do I create an all-in-one deployable package?

There are two primary methods for creating an all-in-one deployable package:

  • If you're using the continuous integration/continuous deployment model, you're already creating all-in-one deployable packages.
  • If you don't have a build environment, you can create a package in Microsoft Visual Studio. For more information, see Create deployable packages of models.

The process is the same than with "not all-in-one"s:

    - If you use a build pipeline (you should!) then the deployable package automatically contains all custom and ISV packages from your source control. You just need to be sure that you have added all ISV solution in your source control.

    - If you create deployable packages from Visual Studio (your shouldn't!) you should always select all your custom and ISV packages when you create a deployable package.

So whenever you deploy a deployable package to test/prod, it must always contain ALL your custom and ISV packages (all non-Microsoft packages).

IF the ISV solution, they do not provide the source code (only solution deployable package), how can we generate the all-in-one deployable package?

You add the binaries (from deployable package) to source control and let your build include them in the deployable package.
