NAV 2016 - Active Directory Single Sign on

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hey,

I am totally new in this NAV topic and hopefully get some support through this community.

Is there any chance to integrate AD users and/or AD Groups into the NAV User Management.

The goal is that every AD existing user or group are able to use NAV without further login screens.

I prefer the single sign on principle. I searched in this forum but was not able to find something

similiar. If yes, do you a nice "HowToDo"?

Best regards,

Kristian

    @Viyke

its about information security , when you are in industry company PC never allowed using without password for windows login , in generally every user having unique credentials

so that as you say about the security, person who accessing the NAV application mean either they know the password or owner has share the password

its totally responsible of the user credentials of windows : if you shearing your password of windows with anybody mean its not good

these kind of things can handle by company IT governance team according to the IT rules & regulation on your company

in advance : check your( Computer crime Act / intercultural property rights act) related Acts on your country

In that case you can use NavUserPassword Authentication.

    Hello Maneesha,

thanks for your fast reply. Very helpful so far.

I changed the "Credential Type" to "Windows" but what do you mean with "Windows Authentication : allowed".

Do you mean the section by the prompt "New - user Card". All I can do is to set the group or user itself. I dont

    find any option "allowed".

    Best regards,

    Kristian

    Dear Maneesha,

Your response is correct but I have concern with Single Sign On using Windows authentication. How secured is this method knowing very well that anybody can use your access on Dynamics once you have logged on to your system (laptop or desktop).

    Dear Kristian K ,

    Yes this is possible ,

First go to your server and set the server - management console

    select your server

on general tab  - set "Credential Type" as "Windows "

and then on your application create the user : user setup

    Windows Authentication : allowed
