Why This Happens
Underlying Field Type:
The Quantity field on Quote Product (or Opportunity Product, etc.) is a decimal number field in D365.
Even if your product unit precision is set to 0, the system still stores Quantity as a decimal and doesn't auto-format the display.
Word Template Behavior:
Word templates pull raw field values with default formatting (often 5 decimal places).
There is no built-in option to format decimals directly within the Word XML template editor.
✅ Solutions & Workarounds
Option 1: Format Field in Word Template (Recommended)
You can force decimal formatting in the Word template using field switches in Word. Here’s how:
Steps:
Open your Word template.
Press Alt + F9 to show field codes.
Find your Quantity field—it will look like:
{ MERGEFIELD "quantity" }
Modify it like this:
{ MERGEFIELD "quantity" \# "#,##0" }
