Dynamics Guides adding more guides to one anchor

Hi,

I was looking for a way to pair multiple guides to one anchor so when we are working on one object we can easily make multiple guides for that object without having to put multiple anchors on the object.

Hope some of you can help me out. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ruben.

    Hi Ruben

Additionally, you can use the same QR code for n guides.

You would need to set the anchor point for each guide when creating it but the QR code as an anchor point can be reused.

You only need individual versions of a QR code per guide if you are embedding a link to the specific guide in said QR code.

    Hi,

Currently Guides does not support persistent holograms. However, it's possible to achieve a similar behavior using a copy & paste trick.

When you place a hologram into the world, you are actually attaching it to the step it was instantiated from. That means if you go to the next step, the hologram won't be visible anymore.

To be able to simulate a persistent hologram between multiple steps, you can add the same hologram to all steps and use the copy & paste position feature to guarantee they will be all in the same spot. Here is the documentation of how to do it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/mixed-reality/guides/hololens-app-copy-3d-model-position

One thing to keep in mind is that HoloLens is a mobile device with limited amount of memory. That means we might have to optimize their models to be able to use them in Guides. This article talks about performance targets and 3D models optimization.

Finally, consider what needs to be visible to provide context for a specific task. Only add detail when it becomes necessary to make the task clearer.

    Hope this helps!
