Inventory Site - Account Segment ID - Switch Segment in Sales Invoice

Hi!

I am testing on switching the Account Segment ID based on the Site ID that I'll be using in the Sales Invoice in Sales Order Processing.

Even though the Site ID is default to a specific Account Segment and necessary Chart of Accounts with this segment combination exist, it is not changing the Account Segment for Sales/COGS or any accounts while creating/Posting the Sales Invoice.

Is there anything missing in my setup?

Thanks,

The Inventory Account is the one that would have a segment swapped out based on the Account Segment ID on the Site ID; is this changing?

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply. The Segment1 which is defined as Site is not changing for any account including Inventory Account. I was in the impression it will change for Sales/COGS also.

    Any clue?

Check the segment ID for sites in Inventory Control setup to make sure the correct segment is identified.  It will only swap out the segment in the setup.  The corresponding segment identifier needs to then be assigned to the site as Ian suggests.    If  the setup is already populated with the incorrect segment, you may be able to change it via the back end (direct in SQL).   And  my understanding is also that it will change the sales and COGS accounts.   I have not used it extensively, but occasionally and not for a few years as to my uncertainty.   Make sure the GL accounts exist for that expectation to have a chance.

    Dear All,

Thanks for your replies. I was able to test it successfully after re-doing the setup. Switch works for Inventory, Sales and COGS accounts. Just make sure these three accounts exists with the segment combinations.

    Cheers!

Inventory flipping works not only for inventory account, but for all the AR accounts; Sales, COGS, Markdown, and Inventory returns.

Nothing complicated about it, include these accounts on the item card, and do the setup and you just work just fine.

    Hello Mohammed,

Does this switch happen for Freight account?

What about the commission accounts?  Expense and Payable?

    Tom,

I do not think those change either as they are not tied to an individual inventory item but rather the entire invoice amount.
