Unable to log out - browsing to CRM always logs in as same user

Hey Guys,

I'm having a weird problem where I can't seem to log out of my current user.

Essentially, I can open a clean browser window (deleted temp files, even tried it in privacy mode) and if I browse to our on-premise CRM installation I will automatically get logged in as my user (no prompt).

If I click Sign Out, I get to the Sign-Out page and receive confirmation that I have signed out. However, if I browse back to our CRM home URL I appear to still be logged in, and if I log out and close my browser, opening it up again and browsing to the home URL also loads my dashboard without prompting for credentials.

This is problematic as I'm trying to login as someone else to diagnose an issue.

A possibly related point, here's how authentication works under Chrome/Firefox (RU13).

- Chrome: Username + Password prompt appears but no matter what is entered, it disappears and then pops up again when you confirm.

- Firefox: Logging in works as expected (in the mean time I'm using Firefox when I need to access another account).

Any tips or pointers greatly appreciated.

Best,

Ollie

    Hi Ollie,

I assume from the description that you are using CRM On-Premise. I am also assuming that you access CRM using URL, which looks like http://<CRM_Server>:<Port>

This is the default setup for CRM without internet Facing Deployment. Under such scenarios, the CRM works on Single Sign-on and passes the Current Logged on Users credentials to CRM. This is the reason why you automatically log-in as the same user even after logging off and initiating the same session.

To Log-in as another user to CRM, you can follow either of the two options below:

    Option 1:

    1) Press and Hold the Shift Key down and Right Click on internet Explore.

    2) Select Run as a Different User.

    3) Give the credentials of the User you want to log-in to CRM as and click OK.

    4) Navigate to CRM, this would give another Windows Security Log-in Prompt. Here also enter the credentials of the User you want to connect to CRM as.

    Option 2:

    1) Launch Internet Explorer.

    2) Navigate to Settings -> Internet Options.

    3) Select Security Tab.

    4) Click on Local Intranet Zone and Sites.

    5) Add the CRM web site to the Local intranet Zone.

    6) Now, click on Custom level under "Security level for this Zone" and scroll to the bottom.

    7) For the User Authentication Setting, select the Radio Button "Prompt for User Name and password" and save the changes.

The above changes (Option 2) will prevent the Single Sign-on for CRM and prompt the User for Credentials every time they try to access CRM from this particular computer.

Interesting, we don't actually use unified login (different AD's for the office computers and the CRM server) but it looks like my local AD login has somehow associated itself with a remote AD login (despite them being different names, in different ADs, and all internet explorer personal settings being ignored). Anyway, this workaround works for now. Thanks Jordi.

    Hi Ollie,

In Internet Explorer you can Shift + right-click and then "Run as different user", that will allow you to run the IE browser under a different user other than the one running the Windows Session. And that means running CRM with a different user obviously.

    Regards,

    Jordi
