How to determine when the maximum licensing in AX has been reached

Hi, I am trying to determine how to capture when our AX envrionment has run out of licenses. One though was to use the sysuserlog table. What I have noticed is that the sysuserlog table that login will be recorded with a value of nothing in the logoutdatetime field, and a value of 0 in the logoutdatetimetzid field when a user has attempts to log into AX then the maximum licensing has been reached. Would this be correct?

Is there a better way to capture this information?

    Hi Wolfman,

There is an option to view the online users. You can possibly prevent the license limit by monitoring if users opens AX more than once at the same time.

Also the Windows event viewer can be used to see whether users did login and if it was successful or not.

    Hello,

I don't know the answer to your specific question but I will say there are three ways to calculate the number of concurrent users in Dynamics AX 2009:

    1. Look at the Online user form and number of live user sessions

    2. Look at Active Sessions counters in Performance Monitoring, knowing that all type of sessions are sum up

    3. Calculate number of Concurrent User Sessions by using the SYSUserLog table.

I personally used the third option because it is very precise. You can see the peak of users log in and log out during the day.

Note: For Dynamics AX 2012, the Named Users Count report is quite helpful as well.

    Regards,

    Bertrand
