Fixed assets depreciation

When i open the value models form for a fixed asset, there is a check box which is called "Depreciation" as below:

According to the specification the depreciation will stop if i tick this check box. Suppose there is a fixed asset whose service life is 1 year, and depreciation periods are 12 months, if the depreciation happen on first day of each month, and i do the first depreciation on Jan 1st 2014, the last one should happen on Dec 1st 2014. as below:

if i uncheck the "Depreciation" check box on Dec 1st 2014 and enable it on Jan 1st 2015 , then it will do the last depreciation on the Jan 1st 2015, right ?

Another question, all the above value models configuration only can affect the "Fixed asset journal" depreciation proposal(such as journal time), but i still can post the depreciation on any time as i want even i uncheck the "Depreciation" check box , right ?

many thanks.

    Hi,

Yes you are correct. If the box is unchecked, the depreciation won't be calculated when you run the depreciation proposal. It will catch up in 2015 if you check it again. Also, you can indeed manually post depreciation however if you do so, the depreciation periods remaining won't be updated. This is useful when you use the depreciation proposal as this is what AX is using to calculate the amount per period.

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks,

    Caroline.

    Hi Jianrui,

In addition to Caro: Note that AX uses the last depreciation date on the value model to determine the next accounting date. So probably in January the date December 1st will be proposed. When creating the depreciation proposal you can enable the option to summarize the depreciations. I'm not sure if this will change the date when only one period needs to be depreciated.

To use the correct date, you can also change the last depreciation date to be one month later.
