Hi, has anyone managed to run the new R3 demand forecasting module in the VM released at the beginning of May?
I've got one item (in one item allocation group) selected, and I've created a history of sales orders for it, but when I run 'Generate statistical baseline forecast' I get the error:
The SQL Analysis Service has thrown an error. Please check the attached error message for details:
Informational (Data mining): The specified state, '', was not found in the column, '', of the '' object.
Informational (Data mining): The specified state, '', was not found in the column, '', of the '' object.
Error (Data mining): Processing the 'Forecast model - 5637144577' mining model failed because either the training data is empty or there were no significant attributes found.
Server: The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.

We found in trying to test this by backdating sales order transactions from which to generate a forecast off, that it does not use either the packing slip or invoice dates at all, but rather just the "Expected date" which can be set with the "Requested receipt date" field. This is strange but makes testing easier/quicker!
I was also getting this error and followed instructions to fix posted here, however, while I can generate a forecast and import it back, I am now getting the following error: "The SQL Analysis Service has thrown and error. Another 'MiningModel" object has the 'Forecast Model-5637144578' name"
Anyone know how to fix this error?
Thanks Christian - that's the fix.

Hi Tim, Just read your post now. The issue is most likely caused by missing permissions on the VM.
The SQL server in the VM only have read access to the Analysis server. It needs write as well in order to update the cube – add Membership checkmark in db_datawriter and db_ddladmin for CONTOSO\sqlanalysis will solve this issue.
1. Open SQL Server Management Studio
2. In the Tree structure go to: AX2012R2A > Databases > System Databases > MicrosoftDynamicsAX > Sceurity > Users > CONTOSO\sqlanalysis
3. Add checkmark on Database role membership db_datawriter and db_ddladmin
This should solve the issue.

So I tried again. This time I have created an Intercompany planning group with just one company, and allocated one Item allocation key to it. Then created my sales history in that company. Now when I run 'Generate statistical baseline forecast' I don't get any errors, but when I open the Excel spreadsheet to review the generated forecast it is empty. I've had a quick look at the 'Demand Forecast initial' cube but it seems to be empty. When I process the cube manually I see processing errors. The most significant seems to be: OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: CREATE TABLE permission denied in database 'MicrosoftDynamicsAX'.; 42000.
Any one got any ideas on how I can fix this?
Thanks
Tim
