I am trying to catch or select ítem description that is on Purchase Order Entry Windows, You know there are two options about description, ítem master or vendor ítem master, also you can edit description on window.

I need to show on report writer current item desciption typed on window. On Report this Purchase Order Line Rollup Temp table contains both description, Ítem and vendor description but it hasn´t any field to indicate which description is active on window before to print.

Can someone help me ? thanks

    James,

As I was reading through this post again, an idea came to mind. Are you trying to capture the most current description typed into the PO Entry window on the Printed PO.

If yes, here's my idea. You're already familiar with VBA, so here's my suggestion. Whenever someone changes the description field, copy the value in the changed field to the other description field. That way, it wouldn't matter which data was 'showing' on the window, since both would have the same value.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie

PO Report has VBA code for another options and calculated fields, Use VBA to read description isn't work because there are not value that indicate which description is active on PO Entry Windows before to print.

Crystal Reports is not an option for Client, Use a field on Window to save a value to print it would be have a static value on it and that's not an option,

About Dexterity, how i can get status of the menu option and use on ReportWriter, I didn't see it?, that option is a little effort to work.

    thamks

    Hi Naga.

Your suggested option doesn't resolve my issue, because I don't want to take description from master tables but on windows display.

    Thanks for your advanced.

    Hi JBONILLA,

Report Writer does not read the window display to determine which description to print. You might be able to use VBA to modify the report, but I think it would be more involved than you might like. You could capture the data fairly easily if you use something like Crystal Reports. You could use VBA to read the description and then pass that description to the reporting engine. That variable could then be used to choose the appropriate field to print.

You could certainly do it with Dexterity by reading the status of the menu option.

Have you considered using another field on the screen to tell the RW which description you wanted to print?  You could then use a calculated field to determine which description to print based on the value of your 'decision' field.

    What do you think?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Item Description and Vendor Item Description will take the latest that got saved  in the Item Maintenance and Item Vendors Maintenance windows respectively. The Item and Vendor  combination in PO Entry window will retrieve these descriptions from the respective master tables.

    Hope this helps.
