Hey everyone,
I have recently been given the task of generating reports from DAX 2012 R2. I'm new to SSRS in general. The other tools being used are VS 2012 and SSMS 2012. I've run the a tutorial that showed me how to generate a query based report, but I could not open it because "BIDS" or "SSDT" have not been installed. I know that every enterprise is different, but what would be a good resource or starting point for DAX and SSRS. Any insight is appreciated. It's a complex topic and I'm really just trying to figure out where to start.

I have the same question (0)For developing DAX 2012 SSRS reports you don't need BIDS instead you want to install dynamics ax tools for visual studio.
After installing them you will have dynamics project template installed into visual studio.
you can create new project -> Microsoft Dynamics AX -> Report Model project where you can actually start developing SSRS reports for AX.
Hope this answered your question.
You can follow this tutorial.
Cheers
