Add shipment to load manually

Dears,

I want to create shipment and add those shipment to a particular load in my inbound process manually. And track my load till the receiving (Product Receipt) end.

My scenario is :

1. Create purchase orders

2. Receive materials at the hub. (Not physical receive (Product Receipt))

3. Create shipments for the items received by the forwarder (Carrier) to ship to PO warehouse address attached in the purchase order.

4. Add shipments to a load(Container).

5. Add charges to the load(Container).

6. Receive the container(Load).

7. Receive the material physically into the ware house attached to the PO.

Can I do this process in Dynamics AX 2012 R3. Please suggest.

Regards,

Prashant Kumar

RE: Add shipment to load manually

    Dear Guy,

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. Receive PO to the hub and then transfer it to the actual warehouse, we have already thought but we faced some  extra work and costing issue. Due to weighted average item model group. We cannot afford weighted average cost on that  virtual warehouse.

    2. We can think about it but I think it will need more data entry. And in my scenario we have two type of purchase order.

        a. Back to back Order (SO to PO)

        b. Direct purchase order to maintain stock.

If I will use dummy PO and there is a marking between sales order and purchase order for costing purpose then it will be very difficult for me to maintain the marking with actual PO. We can do that but will be hell of job.

I also had an imaginative solution. I need your suggestion in this. Please suggest if you have some idea including customization also.

    1. Create PO as per requirement.

    2. Create dummy receipt in the virtual warehouse. (Customization(Informative only)).

    3. Add these item into the load in the load through load planning workbench.

    4. Add the charges.

    5. Update the load with addition information and status to track the actual movement of the load. (Customization)

    6. Receive the load and complete the product receipt of the PO received item.

RE: Advance Warehouse Management AX 2012 R3

I guess the AX way to do it is to receive the PO in to the hub warehouse, and then Transfer order it to the real warehouse, which is probably not what you are after.

I did see another, imaginative, solution the other day. The first receipt is done against a dummy PO (with a dummy supplier) into the Hub warehouse. A second (real) PO is used for the receipt into the real warehouse, at which time the first receipt is reversed / cancelled. In your example, step 3. and onwards is done against the second PO. The first PO is just used to show the items in inventory somewhere.

    Dear Guy,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes. We will do something is there is no be default feature available. As far as I know there is not something where I can say receive virtually just for loading. Please suggest.

Is Step 2. something that should happen in AX, so that you can see the materials in inventory?
