is there a way I can locate in AX 2012 who actually posted the journal? how can I find this information. The audit trail looks like it only shows who creates it?

On General Journal header, it would be modified by field. Modified by will hold the last person who posted the journal as once posted, the modifications are not allowed.

Audit trail determines who posted it, not who created it. To verify, create a journal and look at audit trail and there won't be anything. Once posted, you will see the record created in audit trail.

    Hi allaboutax,

Do you have different people who create and post journals or do all people post their 'own' journals created?

Seems you are looking for somebody to 'catch' because of a wrong posting?!

    Is that right ;-)

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Click on personalize on summary tab and find "Modified by " by clicking add page .  it shows ID of a person who posted the GJV .

See this earlier post which indicates why the Modified field may not be adequate and includes some sample code from Sohaib to add a customised 'posted by' field  https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/276712

What would be the scenario where last modified by journal is not same as posted by user.

If you access a journal that has already been posted the Modified By field changes to your own user ID. I too was attempting to find out who posted a journal. I accessed the journal and when I exited the Modified By field had changed to my user ID.

Inspect the voucher for the Created by field on the GeneralJournalEntry table, which will always be who posted the journal.

The above worked for me. I was able to trace who posted the journal
