Network install fine; client installs slow. Just started...

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi there:

We have an existing 2009 R2 install on it's own (2008 Enterprise) server. Most of our users log into a terminal server (2008 R2) and run NAV from there, and it's fine. I have a few users, though, who have the client installed on their PCs. Since yesterday, these clients are experiencing quite terrible delays; 2 minutes to change tabs; a bunch of Not Responding. Everyone's on W7 (mix of 32 and 64 bit). Yeah, we tried rebooting.

I'm guessing it was maybe an MS update, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this? Or, if anyone knows for a fact that it's an update. Maybe you know which one...?

Thanks!

Well, turns out, it was NOT the zup files. As suspected it was a Windows update that was causing problems. Specifically: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB3074550).

Hopefully, this can help someone else.

D'oh! I haven't had to touch a zup file in years; I forgot all about them! Zups are deleted; fingers are crossed. Thanks!

Are you using classic client or RTC? If you are using classic client delete "fin.zup" file, and if you are using RTC delete all personalizations: blogs.msdn.com/.../nav-2009-where-is-the-zup-file.aspx

    Good luck!
