The server "DynamicsNAV80" was unable to process the request. The application will now close.

Hello everyone,

It is now two days I am trying to install my NAV 2015. Everything was fine for the last two years. Then, not sure why, I can't make it work.

1. The installation completes fine

2. Service is running fine

3. Management Studio can connect to the database without issues.

4. NAV repair "run as administrator" completes fine.

5. I tried re-installing multiple times, after uninstalling everything related to SQL, with removing registry keys, deleting NAV and SQL directories, reading related forums.

Again, after fresh complete install, when I am trying to open the application, I get "The server "DynamicsNAV80" was unable to process the request. The application will now close." error message.

I get two error messages in the Even Log, which are below. Please help!

RE: The server "DynamicsNAV80" was unable to process the request. The application will now close.

    Hi Tigran,

This may not be your case but I'd express it here since the thread is related.

I am having this issue for several NAV instances which are from several NAV versions and builds. Honestly speaking I am using SQL Queries to add my user to those DBs (which are duplicated from live clients) which violates NST's (NAV Service Tier) default user credential type where the client server was using. It's the easiest method rather than installing self-signed certificates each and every time I have work with a new client.

I have observed that only the clients who didn't had NST Credential Type as Windows (which is the one I added to the Users Table by-force) opted this error. Simple re-open did the trick but it kept coming whenever I restarted the service. In order to verify that I have changed about two clients with self-signed certificated user credentials (which is the correct way) and woala it worked as a charm. I hope that's the permanent solution rather than using shortcuts.

If I am wrong please enlighten me. This is only based on my experimentation.

    Thanks for your answers!!

To resolve the issue, I did another complete uninstallation and installed SQL Server Standard.

The SQL Service was still having issues and wasn't running properly (would stop after 5-10 seconds).

What resolved the issue is changing the SQL Server Service Log-On to Local System Account.

    Regards,

    Tigran

    Hi,

Please check Login Account on the NAV instance and check whether it has the appropriate permission in the SQL.

does the nav service user has the permission "run as service"?

where there changes in the AD (active directory)?

remove the complete installation, then install with demo option. check, if that works.

    Hi Jens.

    Hope you are doing well!

Yes, it has DBOWNER rights. Thanks.

    Hi,

does the user (of the service tier service) have dbowner rights on the database?

    with best regards

    Jens
