forecasting of a product per day

Hi all,

I need some valuable inputs about how to generate forecast per day for a product.

Scenario: I have a product which is manufactured based on the sales orders entry for that day and forecast for that day day.  Hence, when i run the master planning the system should generate planned production orders based on the sales orders scheduled for that day and forecast for that day. So, i need to generate forecast per day for that product and integrate with my master planning.

I have tried setting up the allocation key for the product and run the master scheduling, but it doesn't seem to give me the necessary results. I know i am doing something wrong in my setup.

Can anyone let me know how to do this? Is it possible to do in ax 2012 R3?

Thanks!

If you have a simple static quantity this is what you do:

Requisites: I would assume you already have a master plan set up.

    1. Go to your master plan.

1.1. Select and Add an "Inventory forecast model". You can do this directly by right clicking and selecting "Details" in the form.

1.1.1 Add a tick on the Item under "Automatic forecast reduction" if you sell through projects...

1.2. Tick the "Include Demand forecast"

1.3. In Reduction principle select "Transactions - Dynamics period"

    2. Go to your Released products and select Plan > Forecast > Demand forecast.

2.1. Click New and select a model

2.2. Input the start date when you want to start your forecasts. Defaults to "todays date".

2.3. Add a sales quantity of what ever quantity you need pr day.

2.4. Now create demand lines by using "Allocation" in the center of the form.

    2.4.1. Method: Period

    2.4.2. Per: 1

    2.4.3. Unit: Days

2.4.4. End: Input the end day you want to have your forecasting stop. Don't create until the end of time, but maybe a couple of months or a year into the future.

    2.4.5. Click Create lines

Now try running your master plan and take a look at the demands for the item with demand forecast. :)

    Happy DAXing!
